KGNS Land Lease Issue Resolved

Land Lease Issue Resolved

After much negotiations, there is finally a resolution for KGNS land lease issue

kgns1Members at the Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) can finally breathe a sigh of relief that their golf course is secure. The long drawn land lease issue is finally brought to an end that is satisfactory to all parties involved.

Historically, the Subang Golf Corporation came about as an Act of Parliament in 1968 and the Seaport Estate land was acquired for the construction of the golf course. The Subang Golf Corporation would then sub-lease the land from the government to Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) that was formed to manage the golf club.

Sometime in the 1990s, it was discovered that the sublease was never formalized and a move was made to reclaim the land from KGNS since it sat on a prime developing area. The matter eventually ended in a court battle in 2011 and was slowly brought to a resolution after much negotiations.

Following several years of work and effort by the Special Task Forces of KGNS, Datuk Ir. A. Sani After much negotiations, there is finally a resolution for KGNS land lease issue by R. Rajeswari Land Lease Issue Resolved Karim was finally able to meet up with the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Khairy Jamaluddin on the 26th August 2014, before the matter was taken to the Cabinet the following day.

The Cabinet of the Federal Government agreed to the maximum allowable sub-lease period of 30 years subject to some new terms.

Upon taking office in June 2014, KGNS’s Club President Datuk Ir. A. Sani Karim was at the forefront of all the negotiations with the relevant parties and it definitely took all his finesse and extensive experience with sports associations and NGOs to resolve the matter amicably.

Without asking for waivers and special clauses, the new lease was graciously accepted with the approval of club members. With the full support of the Cabinet, on the 3rd September 2014, the prime details of the new lease were officially documented.

Datuk Ir. A. Sani Karim’s role at present is to ensure the club and the golf course stays where it is for the next 30 years by tying up loose ends. This includes preparation of draft agreements, amendments to articles, checking upon agreed terms on the sub-lease and setting up a good working mechanism between KGNS’s managing corporations.

The club itself is currently undergoing a major golf course renovation to welcome a new era with the new leasing agreements. The coming 18 months will see many physical aspects of the club rejuvenated.
